The Tenant Spotlight at The Perfect Small Office Beechmont this month is Symmetry Fitness Pilates. Here are a few words from the owner and entrepreneur, Laurel:

Joseph Pilates said, “Physical fitness is the attainment and maintenance of a uniformly developed body with a sound mind fully capable of naturally, easily, and satisfactorily performing our many and varied daily tasks with spontaneous zest and pleasure.” He is the man responsible for what he called Contrology, what we refer to today as, Pilates.  I discovered my passion for pilates after the birth of my son in 2004.  My instructor at the time inspired me to take my love for the movement and turn it into a career.

In the summer of 2006, I began a four-month intensive instructor training course. After becoming certified in 2006, I worked at many studios throughout the Cincinnati area.  During this time I also earned certifications for the following: Mixed Martial Arts Conditioning Specialist, Barre Above Instructor, Cardio Kickboxing Instructor, and AMPD Kettlebell Instructor.

In April, of 2018, I decided to step out on my own and open my own studio, Symmetry Fitness Pilates.  Our classes utilize specific, guided exercises to create a more balanced, proportioned body. Regular attendees will work towards better posture and body alignment, increased strength and flexibility. Exercises on the reformer and other apparatus will increase, not just core strength, but provide overall toning of the body. Whether you are new to exercise, or a seasoned athlete, you will be guided to increase your balance, control, and efficiency of movement.  Currently, I offer pilates reformer classes, barre/pilates combination classes, Tabata/pilates combination classes, and pilates jump board classes.  This variety allows all levels of participants to find something to challenge them.


Joseph Pilates said, “Physical fitness is the first requisite of happiness.  In order to achieve happiness, it is imperative to gain mastery of your body.”  I hope to inspire my clients to connect with their bodies and carry what they gain through their classes into their daily lives.
